Safe Use Instructions

Knob Type Suction Pads

Warning! - The devices are for hand use only, do not use with hoists or other lifting gear.

1) Only use on smooth non-porous surfaces such as, glass, metal, plastic, marble etc. Porous materials such as wood, plaster/cement board cannot be gripped by any hand operated lifter.

2) Ensure the gripping face of the suction lifter is clean and free from contamination, such as grease, oil, water, glue, grit, adhesive tape or other matter. If the gripping face is wet it must be dried before use.

3) Ensure the surface to be lifted/gripped is clean and dry and free from contaminants as above.

4) Place the lifter cup down on the surface to be gripped, apply light downward force while rotating the knob clockwise, continue rotating until the knob will not tighten further. On suction lifters with vacuum gauges fitted the vacuum will be seen to increase as the knob is rotated. On good surfaces the lifter will achieve a vacuum of 20" - 25"Hg which is safe for lifting.

5) The load may now be lifted or moved as required. Note! the gripping force is temporary therfore it is neccessary to monitor the vacuum level on the gauge. Caution! the gripping force decreases as the vacuum level decreases therfore lifting operations should be carried out as quickly as possible. If the guage needle moves while lifting, lower the load to safety immediately. On good surfaces like glass, the suction will last longer than for rougher surfaces like metal sheet.

6) To release the grip, ensure the load being lifted is safely supported and then unscrew the knob in the anti-clockwise direction. The grip will be released in a few seconds.
